Overview of Married to Medicine Reality TV Series on Bravo.

Married to Medicine is a reality TV series premiered on Bravo in 2013. The series follows a group of seven women in Atlanta who either work in medicine or are married to someone who does. Like Bravo’s Real Housewives series, the series follows women in their professional and personal lives, social circles, and family settings.

The series spun off Married to Medicine Houston, and a future spin-off with Married to Medicine Los Angeles is on the way.

Production Companies and Executive Producers

Married to Medicine is produced by Fremantle Media North America and Purveyors of Pop for Bravo. The series’ executive producers are Mariah Huq, Matt Anderson, and Nate Green.

Critical Response, Ratings, and Awards

Overall, the show received very good ratings, hence its continued renewal by Bravo.

However, a group of Howard University College of Medicine students does not agree with the viewing audience. They created a petition to prevent the series from airing on Bravo. They feel the series “heavily associates Black females in medicine with materialism, catfights, and unprofessionalism.” They feel the show will contribute to African-American women’s difficulties in getting residency positions.

  1. I really don’t understand why Dr Heavenly or Quad are on this show. Dr Heavenly says the meanest things and comes back year after year, is this the kind representation of black women Bravo and all these other TV stations want to us to continue seeing on our screens? Quad starts rumors and lies about her friends. Is she still married to medicine?
